Hey Girl!

What is "Hey Girl!"?

​

"Hey Girl!" is a collaborative* effort to build, unify, and strengthen the LGBTQ+ community in the South Bay, with a special focus on the full spectrum of queer and transgender women and nonbinary people.

​

In early 2018, the San Jose Women's Softball League sent a representative to a Silicon Valley Pride board meeting with the hope of creating a queer women's event around the Pride celebration in San Jose. A committee was formed, and during one of our brainstorming sessions, "Hey Girl!" was born.

​

We kicked off the brand with our first social in March 2018: Celebrating Women's History Month, at SoFA Market. Since then we have hosted happy hours, speed-dating events, lip-synch contests, Halloween costume contests, and education-activation workshops.

​

Our crowning success is "Hey Girl!" at Silicon Valley Pride. In 2018, for the first time, a specific area and stage at the festival were dedicated to celebrating the queer women's community. In 2019, we expanded into a larger area of the festival and presented more diverse entertainment on our stage!

​

"Hey Girl!" strives to be as inclusive as possible—so whoever your authentic self is, you are welcome!

* Hey Girl!'s collaborators include Silicon Valley Pride, Billy DeFrank LGBTQ+ Community Center, SJ Women's Softball League, DJ Danny G, PLAY featuring DJ Rockaway, Olivia Travel, Girlpages NorCal, and the Rainbow Women's Chorus.

  • May: Igniting Change panel of elected female officals: How to work with elected officials for change.
